                                                                                     丁敬云「古人篆刻思離群,舒卷渾同嶺上雲,看到六朝唐宋妙,
                                                                                     何曾墨守」,思離群、不墨守,見奇妙處,才能脫時代之習氣,
                                                                                     汲古出新。余至今尚於明清乃至當代諸家,不斷取其優處、習其
                                                                                     妙處,縱橫工拙,樂無窮也。本作為近日讀柳宗元永州八記摘句
                                                                                     刻之。

                                                                                     As TING Ching said, “The ancients in seal carving thought beyond the
                                                                                     crowd, their strokes flowing like clouds over the mountain ridge. They
                                                                                     appreciated the wonders of the Six Dynasties, Tang, and Song, yet never
                                                                                     rigidly adhered to conventions.” To think beyond the crowd and avoid
                                                                                     rigid orthodoxy is to perceive the marvelous and thus transcend the
                                                                                     habits of one’s era, drawing anew from antiquity. To this day, I continue to
                                                                                     learn from the masters of the Ming, Qing, and even contemporary times,
                                                                                     embracing both their strengths and quirks, finding endless joy in the
                                                                                     interplay of skill and spontaneity. This work is a recent carving of selected
                                                                                     verses from LIU Tsung-Yuan’s "Eight Episodes in Yungchou."
