Created in a format similar to thangka, but unlike
thangka, the painting is not created on silk or
fabric. The two girls in the middle are newborn
physical beings, representing the original fate
of an individual and other. This fate is the
connection between individuals, and it is light
and inadvertent. Without others, we cannot draw
the boundaries of “myself.” Buddhists describe
this state as “like two bundles of weed that lean
against each other and do not fall down.” You
and I are like two sticks of weed; you lean on me,
and I on you. Without any one of us, the other
will not be able to remain standing.
