Zhua Zhou—an ancient custom rst emerged in the Wei, Jin, and Ҵմމ̚ϼٙࠬڳdጳᕧࣜی̏ಃfɦ၈ຟᆵe
Northern and Southern dynasties period. It is also known as “broken
plates” and “trying the infant.” When a child turns one, this ritual is ༊Յdʃ܀մ๋ࣛཫɥᏃՅۃdԨ࿁͛նַᚃනл
held to predict his or her future, and bless the continuation of life. ձጳٙज़ᗴf
This work expresses parents’ love for children, as well as the playful ͉Ъۜڌ༺˨͎࿁ɿɾٙগᖔઋଉd˸ࢬ༷ᏕeԨՈɛ
and humane customs of nurturing children.
I hope that “Zhua Zhou” is a custom that will be passed down ࡐբٙԃՅࠬڳf ୋɧΤ
