2011 First Prize, Tao Yuan Art Exhibition fence; the rectangular boxes in the image manifest a newly-constructed asphalt road whose
- Oil Painting Category flat surface is ready to be used and carries people’s infinite hopes. The rectangular boxes
are made up of dark and light colors with an asymmetrical left-right layout and in-between
gaps. The red warning light, which sparkles even in the daylight, is seen gleaming,
hiding the vocabulary that these simple boxes desire to communicate and waiting on the
viewers to quietly and carefully listen and savor its connotation. As a quote by Leo Tolstoy 207
describes,“Truth, requires no one to seek it by lighting a candle in the sunlight.”
