Over the past thirty years, the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition has grown from a local art show into a showcase of representative
artistic vitality and cultural depth, expanding steadily in both scale and influence. Since its inception in 1996, it has not only borne
witness to the growth and creative journeys of countless artists but also reflected Taichung’s rich cultural heritage and artistic
energy as the “Cultural City.” For a city, this exhibition is more than a series of competitions; it is a testament to the continuous
cultivation of culture and the deepening of the arts.
Over the course of three decades, the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition has gradually established itself as Taichung’s signature
art brand and has become the largest and most representative government-organized comprehensive art competition in Taiwan.
With its submission system covering eleven categories of media and its rigorous professional jury process, it has long attracted the
                                                                             th
participation of artists from both home and abroad. In its 30 edition in 2025, the exhibition received 1,345 submissions from 21
countries and regions, ultimately selecting 182 prize-winning works. Both in scale, quality, and international participation, the Da

                                                                                                  th
Art is an essential core value in the development of a city. Beginning with the 29 edition, we significantly increased the
total prize pool of the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition to NT$5.69 million, further strengthening our commitment to providing tangible
support and encouragement for artistic creation. Among these, the “Da Dun Prize,” representing the highest honor, grants each
recipient a total of NT$380,000 for First Prize and collection acquisition, underscoring our long-standing commitment and policy
vision toward creative freedom, cultural diversity, and equal access to the arts. In terms of cultural infrastructure, we are working
with a long-term perspective to deepen and expand the city’s arts and cultural foundation. The “Taichung Green Museumbrary,”
set to open in December 2025, will be Taiwan’s first integrated cultural venue combining an art museum and a library, offering both
reading and exhibition functions, and bringing a new form of public cultural venue to Taichung. By creating more opportunities for
cross-disciplinary exchange, this innovative cultural space will further enhance the quality of life for citizens and raise the city’s
                               cultural visibility.
The thirty-year journey of the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition represents the shared growth of a city and its arts, as well as the
sustained advancement of a cultural institution. I would like to extend my gratitude to all the artists, jurors, curatorial teams, and
colleagues of the City Government whose dedication and persistence have allowed this competition to evolve continuously and
inject vitality into Taiwan’s art scene. Looking ahead, we will continue to uphold our commitment to supporting artistic creation
and deepening international exchange, positioning Taichung as an important global hub for artistic dialogue. I warmly invite all art
lovers to experience the prize-winning works of this year’s exhibition, to witness the diversity and vitality of contemporary art, and
to join us in celebrating a new chapter in the development of art in Taichung.
