In Taiwan’s forests, the Formosan sika deer
quietly and peacefully grow, preserving the soil
and nurturing life. The habitats of various species
are protected, and their resources are sustained.
The Buddhist term “Vassa” refers to the three-
month annual retreat observed by Theravada
practitioners during the wet season. The
monastics usually stay in one place during vassa
to further their cultivation. The final wish in life
is to have a place to call home, and thus realize
myself!
