Description
Most people pursue power, status, fame, and
wealth, creating all kinds of personas to meet
the expectations of the secular world, but often
times, they shackle the true self trying too hard
to please others. This is work is a reflection on
this situation. The girl wrapping her arms around
her knees exudes a sense of tiredness; the doll’s
expression reveals hatred for the world; the dog
is a statement of the wish of taking a break; the
vines and birdcage symbolize confinement. The
work is expressed through the meticulous outlining
and coloring techniques, and features the use of
different shades of tea color, creating a simple and
primitive ambience.
