Description
My mother is like Buddha’s angry incarnation;
despite her short temper, Mother is the person who
protects the entire family. Holding a broom, mop,
or knife, she helps everyone in the family. She steps
under her feet demons like dirty laundry or bills;
kitchen is her temple, and chili peppers are her
holy flowers. The boy and girl flanking her are my
sister and me; I am crying because Mother does not
like me drawing cartoons. My sister seems agitated
from all her English homework and reports.
Raising mom from under the sweeping robot is
my father, who quietly shoulders the burden of
the family; at the same time, Mom has Dad’s bad
habits stomped under her feet. I grew up in this
complicated environment, and as they say, every
family has its own story!
