Mayor's Preface

Since the Japanese Colonial period, Taichung has been revered as a cultural city, and

Taichung City Government has been actively sowing seeds of art in this soil. The Da Dun Fine
Arts Exhibition organized by Taichung City Government has entered its 24th year, becoming an
iconic of icial ine arts exhibition of Taiwan.
With ideal geographical location, Taichung City’s cultural activities have always been known
to be diverse and inclusive. Since its start in 1996, Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition has gradually

expanded from a local art exhibition to an international event, attracting creative talents from
all around the world, and becoming an important and prestigious art competition of Taiwan
with an international presence.

Through this platform of exhibition and competition, outstanding creative talents and
works gather and interact to spark creative ideas, generating greater energy for creativity. Not
only has the exhibition further enriched their artistic life, citizens of Taichung have also been
nurtured and touched by beauty, thus elevating the city’s aesthetics and taste.
Always with full dedication, Taichung City Government will continue to build Taichung into

the capital city of art with rich cultural milieu, and all our citizens can certainly be proud of
living in this great cultural city.
All the prize-winning works of this year’s Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition will be exhibited at

the city’s Da Dun Cultural Center from November 16 to December 4. We sincerely thank to all
the participating artists for bringing to Taichung this great feast of beauty. We’d like to invite all
the citizens to visit the exhibition, and wish the event a great success!
