Adding A New Page to the Modern Arts

Taiwan, also known as Formosa, is a place bound for magic and beautiful scenes. Taichung City, a significant city for Taiwan's
cultural and art development, has continued to create new benchmarks for modern art.

Taiwan's artistic development has long been influenced by societal, political and economic factors. Certainly, the island has also
embraced cultural trends and ideas from both the East and West. The diverse cultural inspirations have made the island to develop its
unique and comprehensive art style. As Taiwan's cultural hub, Taichung is home to many artists and art enthusiasts, and a destination
               for artists from the world.

                                        nd
This year marks the 22 Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition of Taichung City, which includes 11 categories (ink wash painting,
calligraphy, seal engraving, glue color painting, oil painting, watercolor painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, crafts, and
digital art). The event attracted 1,570 entries from over 27 regions and countries. Apart from Taiwan, we had submissions from
China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Brazil, France, the Netherlands, Greece, Egypt, the United States, Poland, Singapore,
the Philippines, Ukraine, Russia, Nepal, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Malaysia, Serbia, Nicaragua, Bulgaria, Romania, Dominican Republic,
               and Republic of Moldova.
The 55 invited jurors were very professional and experienced in their respective fields. During the selection process, we were
very impressed by the jurors careful and fair manner, and the professional attitudes have further honored Taichung's most important
               art exhibition.
A total of 200 outstanding entries won the awards this year. The First Prize winners in each category were given a chance to
compete for the highest honor—the Da Dun Prize —, and there are five entries every year. First Prize winners are required to submit
three additional works as reference for this grand competition. Final Da Dun Prize winners can be proud of themselves as they have
earned this recognition through a very strict and careful judging process.
Winning an award at the highly-competitive Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition is a great honor for an artist. We hope it is also a
tremendous validation of their creation process, and a memorable honor in their career and artistic development. This art collection
include prints from Poland, oil paintings from Serbia, photography from the Dominican Republic, and local ink wash paintings,
calligraphy, glue color paintings and crafts from Taiwan.

The exhibition is usually held at Taichung City Dadun Cultural Center from November to December. We cordially invite all art
lovers to visit and appreciate the unique beauty found here in Taichung, enjoying new and inclusive modern art trends.
