Category Description
The pilgrimage of Mazu from the Dajia Jenn Lann Temple is considered one of
the three major religious events in the world. The design of Mazu's two main
escorts in this piece is inspired by the pair at the Jenn Lann Temple. Natural
lacquer is used, as well as sculpting and maki-e painting techniques, in this
creation. Taiwanese butterflies are also featured here, as the "eye" pattern on
52 their wings symbolizes Mazu watching over her people all the time.
