M ayor’s Statement

Taichung City Government is actively shaping Taichung into a unique cultural city that integrates itself with the
international community via a strong commitment to the development of both cultural "software" and "hardware" and the
promotion of diverse local and multicultural art exhibitions and events. As Taichung takes rapid strides toward becoming an
international city, it also aspires to evolve into a global art and cultural city.
Art is the ideal language for communicating with each other while also illustrating and expressing mutually-shared
emotions and friendship. Using the concept of art without borders, the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition of Taichung City has
been an international event since 2002. I hope that artists here can enjoy exchanges that supersede culture and their respective

artistic fields while also expanding their horizons in sync with global trends.

showcases the cultural aesthetics of Taiwan, but also becomes an international leader for culture and art.
Taichung City residents are able to enjoy an artistic atmosphere at all times thanks to the many varied performances,
from a touring Scottish bagpipe troupe to the Ming Hwa Yuan Arts and Cultural Group, and exhibitions like the "Creative
Taichung" and 2014 Taichung Anime Con events. In addition, the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium, Fulfillment

the world's nine greatest future architectural landmarks continue to shape a Taichung whose own unique style and world-
class cultural infrastructure highlights its glamor to the rest of the world.

applause and affirmation from around the world.

I sincerely welcome all art lovers to visit Taichung and the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition, and to experience the "Heart of
