Description
A belief in the Gate God can be traced far back.
The role of this deity is to safeguard households
and keep the devil away. Ranked as a first-
category historic building, the North Gate God
of Kaohsiung city’s Zuoying district has a long
history. Made of stones, the gate might appear
battered but it still remains grave and solemn.
The artist employs a wet watercolor technique
that allows the colors to bleed and blend in, a
distinctive effect of this skill.
