Usually, the size of seal-engraving is
less than one inch, but a unique feature
of modern Japanese seal-engraving
is works that are two inches or larger.
With larger sizes, it is possible to
apply bold carving techniques and
create intricate variations for the
carved lines, which would be rather
difficult when the size is small.
The large seal in this work takes
advantage of these properties. With a
principle of “careful writing and bold
carving,” I consciously incorporate
fluidity into the disciplined expressions.
