CHANG Chia-Hsin
Description
Inspired by the “House of Cards,” an American
TV show about politics. I campare the show with
the “Watching Chess” poems by Song dynasty’s
Sheng Shi-zhong—the large picture of the real
world and the smaller picture on the chessboard
are comparable, as they are always full of changes
and hard to predict. However, we can always
prepare in advance, as the eventual outcomes
will be determined by human nature. The poems
are written in cursive script, and my re ection on
the show is written in small running script; the
two part echo each other, as the cursive script
displays swiftness and the running script seem
like a slow narration about the chess game, but
also about myself.
