Bamboo ware was popular in the agricultural society, and many people were engaged in

this profession. Bamboo-weaving was a common craft, with many practitioners. However,

as society changes, industry has replaced agriculture, and technology has swallowed
traditions. Traditional professions can no longer survive and are rapidly vanishing under
the wheel of time. The crafts are not passed on to new generations with fewer and fewer
old craftsmen. Survival of the �ittest, the rule of natural selection. The woman in the picture
is making bamboo dustpan; this is a rare scene in today’s rural villages, and will serve as a
precious witness of history.
