Description
The annual Rukai Kalaisianga¹ was held in
Beinan, Taitung in July, 2012. Everyone in Danan
participated! Talaisi², singing and dancing were
just a few exciting highlights. Spotted in the
audience, the little girl was admiring a necklace
as her mother looked at her with love.
1. Kalaisianga: A Rukai annual event that includes a
series of millet harvest, burial, and tribal rituals and
ceremonies.
2. Talaisi: A swing, traditionally a privilege held by female
tribal chief. Talaisi at Kalaisianga not only is a gesture
of appreciation to all tribe members but also a match
game for young people.
